Dr. Joyce Shiau, OD

Dr. Joyce Shiau’s interest in optometry began while working in the sales and marketing department for an optometry practice in Austin, TX. During this time, she discovered her joy for helping patients and later enrolled at University of Houston College of Optometry to pursue her passion for optometry. After working with a post-corneal transplant contact lens specialist, she developed a strong interest in the use and utility of various types of contact lenses. Knowing the hardships independent optometrists who are mothers (and mothers-to-be) face, Dr. Shiau started a career as a maternity relief optometrist. This experience has given her a sense of compassion for both patients and doctors. After spending the last two years in Birmingham, AL, Dr. Shiau is happy to be back home in Houston, TX where she lives with her husband and two younger daughters
